This sounds like a perfect solution for people who have had a cast on and who's body parts are now shedding skin. I currently have a broken arm and it is not just my fingertips that are shedding like a lizard. i think it would feel wonderful to stick my entire right arm in warm water and let gentle little fishes make my arm new again.
Sounds like a silly idea and another way for people to get your money. If you want fish to eat at your feet go to your local lake.
Are you kidding me! I have been in the business manicures and pedicures for 12 years, and everytime someone gets a fungus or something funky from going to a cheep pedicure place the rest of us who do things by the book pay the price. Now for the next 6 months or so I'm going to be answering the questions.. is this safe? I heard this, or I heard that! Come on people, why would you believe this is safe or sanitary? First of all fish poop too! What happened to all of that? And they started out by having people in a community foot bath! Yuck! That seems to me if they were smart people they would have known from the start you cant do that ever! Just please find a nice reputable salon/spa with a nail tech who does things right by state board without all the hooplaw of calus eating fish, there is no way that is really beneficial. They are still ending this treatment with a "pedicure" thats kind of like the ads for diet pills that will work if..."you use proper diet and excercise".... Seriously... It's your money ladies, but you make want to save some of it up for a good foot doctor. You can get a bacterial infection from feces.
It seems that in the world that we're living nobody is able to appreciate and respect the life of the rest of the habitants that share their land with us in this case by slaving the fish doing this disgusting job to please humans...IT'S HORRIBLE AND SHAMEFUL FOR PEOPLE WHO CLAIM TO BE CONSCIOUS. Changing these poorly made actions could help the world to be better!!!
I'm happy this method has finally come to North America. And I hope it spreads right up to Canada. It's been years since I first heard of it being used for psoriasis in Turkey. For psoriasis they were using 2 or 3 different sort of fish to do the work. I've seen small movies on the subject on our local television and you can be sure that I would be their first customer if it should come to our city Montreal. Of course it does not heal you but it apparently helps a lot in getting rid of these ugly scales on your body. I say Cheers to these persons for taking the chance in importing those fish.
I have done some research on this, and the fish shown in this story are actually Chin-Chin which is a type of tilapia they have teeth. The authentic doctor fish are gara ruffa originating form Turkey. They are toothless and the proper fish for use in this process.
I have experienced treatment with authentic garra rufa and it is amazing. They really do soften and rejuvenate the skin while removing dead cells.
In the US there is one salon that does have authentic garra rufa doctorfish (I know, I have visited it).
It is called Glow Skin Care and it is in Fort Myers, Florida. They call it a "nibbles pedicure" which I thought was pretty clever.
As far weather or not it is sensible treatment. I have to say, from my experience, yes. The results are certainly there. Is a doctor fish pedicure for everyone? No, I don't think so, some people would be turned off by the idea of fish nibbling at their toes. But I guess you have to try it to decide for yourself.
When you think of it, what could be more natural?
